Young people in Juja, creating environmental awareness through a game of handball
PendoAmani in collaboration with Playhandball Kenya organized a one day handball tournament at Gachororo Primary School Grounds. The event was graced by 9 teams (5 male and 4 female) from nearby school. The event was used to create awareness on climate change and the need to engage young people in environmental conservation efforts. We currently conduct handball training sessions in 5 school within Juja, where we have experienced great improvement in both soft skills as well as technique in handball game. Mrs Evelyne Wanjohi, the principal of Gachororo Primary School, applauds PendoAmani for being ambassadors in youth empowerment in Juja. She noted the needs to continue engaging young people and supporting their talents so that they can shun activities that are unsupportive in their social development. Through the handball program, PendoAmani has increased the presence of young girls engaged in sporting activities in the community and we hope to continue enlarging the space for the young girls.
