History and Strategy
The East Africa Cup aims to achieve the following outcomes:
A strengthened regional network of people using sport with young people in their community.
Increased participation of girls in sport in the region: we will challenge gender prejudice in East Africa through the participation of girls both in sporting activity and as leaders in the development of their own community. And we will work to promote a safe environment for girls’ participation in the community.
Increased knowledge of how to prevent HIV and Aids amongst young East Africans, through supporting the network activity of Kicking Aids Out using EAC as a hub for that activity.
An increased practical understanding of how to resolve conflict amongst young East Africans through direct workshop activity addressing its causes and by promoting inter-faith, cross national and inter- tribal dialogue.
Increased youth leadership and participation, particularly amongst young people who do not normally have access to sport.
